Sisters Found Something To Do

For brief moments the forest was illuminated, the doings of a faraway star and a few adjusting clouds. Most of the time, however, we walked over leaves in the softest light.

The mosquitos found us after a while, and I became tired of ornery burrs clinging to my dress.

Returning home, neither of us were yet aware we had snatched up our adventure in this green world's final hours.  Days later all these leaves have altered hue, and many already rest on the ground.
