Empty

Forgotten times, and endings, sadden me... but I must never take vacancy for granted.

Unoccupied rooms, spaces, pages, pockets in our souls.  Blankness sets our dreams into the wild; frees our minds to hunt for what could be, to gather notions of our choosing, to fill the vacancy with something.  With absurd possibilities, if we wish.

Cracks in a window or a tear in a lovely picture let imagination seep through.

Though I long for good things to exist and to last...

...I secretly, sometimes guiltily,  love the imperfection.

A Walk to Take

A sparrow, intent on catching a fly, nearly blundered into my legs.  Eager for that flying morsel, he spared no time apologizing but continued the pursuit around a sign post and on down the road.

I waved to a cat across the street.  Pacing over to my side, he caught up with me.  We walked a few blocks together.

Bird with a Headache

Last fall, Mother woke me up to show me a bird, who had flown into our window, cupped safely in her hands.  After some time its little head finally stopped hurting enough so it could open its eyes.  I took this picture the second before it flew up into a tree.

Foxes and Herons

Sometime I'll tell you the story of the fox and the heron.  Here are some works in progress.
